Announcing The Agape Foundation 2009 Peace Prize Awardees!

On Thursday, September 24, 2009, The Agape Foundation celebrated its 40th Anniversary by honoring recipients of the 2009 Agape Foundation Peace Prizes.

Enduring Visionary - This prize honors a powerful peacemaker whose sustained commitment has made a critical difference in the establishment of peace and social justice, and whose passion has inspired others to do the same.

Jacqueline Cabasso
Executive Director, Western States Legal Foundation
Jackie has devoted a lifetime of work toward peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons, and currently serves as the Mayors for Peace North American Coordinator. A long-overdue award!

Champions of Change - Iin honor of Agape’s 40th Anniversary, a special prize was awarded to a peacemaker who embodies the broad definition of “peacemaking.”

Youth Together
YT involves young people in high schools to develop positive, long-term solutions to fight social, political, community and educational inequities in their lives and communities.

Rising Peacemaker - This prize honors an innovative peacemaker who has undertaken the creation of peace in their community, nationally or internationally, and has been making a significant contribution for five years or less.

Famoksaiyan
Founded in 2006, Famoksaiyan is a grassroots network addressing complex issues of militarism and colonization in seeking self-determination for Chamorros, Guam’s indigenous people.
