Forty years ago – in 1969 and at the height of tremendous social change in the United States – the Agape Foundation was founded. Today, in 2009, the world has moved in significant ways. But, what hasn’t changed is the ongoing and critical need for peace and social justice in our communities and globally.

Since 1969, the Agape Foundation has raised and distributed funds to groups working for nonviolent social change. As a nonprofit tax-exempt foundation, we provide seed grants, loans and fiscal sponsorship to organizations that promote peace, oppose
war, defend our civil and human rights and protect the environment. Since its
formation, the Agape Foundation has awarded more than $13 million to
over 800 grassroots organizations throughout California.

Please join us Thursday, September 24, 2009 for the fifth annual Agape Foundation Peace Prize event in celebration of the U.N.-declared International Day of Peace. Partner with us as we honor and award established and emerging Northern California peacemakers – and help us celebrate 40 years of funding nonviolent social change!

Many thanks to our early Event Sponsors!
