BREAD received a $1,500 grant for economic justice work including a unique local currency system, BREAD HOURS (valued at $12 federal currency), that works toward building an ecologically sustainable local economy.

Vivi Letsou Productions, San Francisco, CA, received a $1,500 to distribute Not In Our Name, re-titled Hidden in Plain Sight, Vivi Letsou and John Smihula’s feature length documentary about the U.S. military and economic policy in Latin America focussing on the U.S. School of the Americas and its military training program.

Central California Criminal Justice, Fresno, CA, was founded to address problems arising from the relationship between the Fresno Police Department and residents of Fresno, primarily people of color. They are working to establish institutional mechanisms that will curb police abuses and foster mutual respect. They received a $1,500 grant to bring together Fresno residents in order to reach consensus on the form of a civilian review board to act as an independent monitor of police conduct.
